‘Well, the work in the yards is long and it’s hard…’

Following on the success of their ‘Not Far to Go Now,’ husband and wife team Jet and Katie Jones have created another charmingly illustrated children’s book about life on a cattle station in Australia.

This time, they attack the subject of the cattle yards:

‘There’s drafting and branding,

The work is demanding,

We’ll spray ’em for lice and for ticks..’

Bush children will recognise themselves, and urban children will be amazed by this different lifestyle.

“Hard in the Yards” captures beautifully those dusty, long days spent at the yards. It’s a quick peek into what life is like for children in the bush – dusty, busy and of course, always time for a piece of cake.
